Chronic bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial tubes, the airways that carry air to the lungs. People who have chronic bronchitis frequently have a persistent cough that brings up discolored mucus. Other symptoms include wheezing, chest pain, and shortness of breath. It can last for months or years.

Chronic bronchitis is usually caused by exposure to tobacco smoke or other lung irritants such as air pollution, dust or toxic gases in the air. Over time, this constant exposure can lead to inflammation in the airways that deliver air to the bronchial tubes, which results in additional mucous produced and coughing.

Although chronic bronchitis cannot be cured, it can be managed and controlled. We assess your symptoms and perform appropriate tests to help us determine what your individual protocol should be.
