Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in caring for older patients. Dr. Rafi completed an extensive one-year program in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, with a special focus on improving immune function and academic anti-aging, unrelated to cosmetic procedures.
Our older patients are usually 65 and up, but being considered ‘geriatric’ isn’t solely determined by age. For instance, you might be 70, working full-time, and in excellent health, yet not be classified as geriatric. On the other hand, a 60-year-old with various health issues, relying on a multitude of medications, could be considered a geriatric patient. We assess your functionality at home and in other settings, your existing health conditions, and the complexity of your medical history.
When a new patient comes to us, we begin from square one. Typically, our process involves a thorough review of their medications and recent lab results, followed by any additional tests necessary.
