Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in caring for older patients. Dr. Rafi completed a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, along with a specialized program in advanced geriatrics. His primary focus was on enhancing immune function and academic anti-aging that’s not related to cosmetic procedures.

While most of our patients are generally over 65, it’s important to understand that being considered “geriatric” is not solely determined by age. You could be 70 years old, actively working five days a week, and in excellent health without fitting the geriatric label. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple health conditions and a long list of medications could be considered a geriatric patient.

We assess your functional abilities both at home and in your daily life, taking into account any underlying health conditions and the complexity of your medical history. With each new patient, we take a fresh approach, typically starting with a review of their medications and recent lab results, and we may order additional tests as required.
