Glendora CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY GLENDORA CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in the care of elderly patients. Dr. Rafi completed a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, along with a specialized program in advanced geriatrics. His primary focus was on enhancing immune function and academic anti-aging that’s not related to cosmetic procedures.

While most of our patients are typically over 65, it’s important to note that being considered “geriatric” is not solely determined by age. You could be 70 years old, working a full workweek, and enjoying excellent health without falling into the geriatric category. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple health conditions and a list of 30 medications might be classified as a geriatric patient.

We assess your functional abilities both within your home and in your daily life, taking into account any comorbidities and the complexity of your medical profile. With each new patient, we take a fresh approach, typically starting with a review of their medications and recent lab results, and we may order additional tests as needed.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
