At the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute, Dr. Rafi and his team specialize in the care of older patients. Dr. Rafi has completed a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, in addition to a special program in advanced geriatrics. His research primarily focuses on immune function enhancement and non-cosmetic anti-aging from an academic perspective.

While the majority of our patients are typically over 65, it’s important to note that being labeled as “geriatric” isn’t solely defined by age. You could be 70 years old, working full-time, and enjoying excellent health without falling into the geriatric category. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple health conditions and a list of 30 medications might be classified as a geriatric patient.

We evaluate your functional abilities both within your home and in your daily life, taking into account any existing health issues and the complexity of your medical history. With each new patient, we take a fresh approach, typically commencing with a review of their medications and recent lab results, and we may order additional tests as necessary.
