Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in the care of older patients. Dr. Rafi completed a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA and a special advanced geriatrics fellowship. Our older patients are typically over 65, but geriatric status isn’t solely defined by age. A 70-year-old who works full-time and enjoys excellent health may not be classified as geriatric. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities and a complex medical profile, including 30 medications, might be considered a geriatric patient. We assess your functionality at home and outside, inquire about your comorbidities, and evaluate your medical profile.

With each new patient, we take a comprehensive approach. We initiate the process with a thorough medication review and an examination of recent lab results. Additional testing is ordered as required, ensuring a personalized approach without exaggeration.
