Lancaster CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY LANCASTER CA

Dr. Rafi and his dedicated team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in providing exceptional care for geriatric patients. Dr. Rafi’s extensive training includes a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, as well as a special fellowship in advanced geriatrics. His expertise focuses on immune function and enhancement, as well as academic non-cosmetic anti-aging.

Geriatric patients are typically aged 65 and above, but it’s important to note that being considered geriatric isn’t solely defined by age. You could be 70 years old, actively working five days a week, and enjoying robust health, without fitting the geriatric profile. Conversely, you could be 60 years old, dealing with multiple comorbidities, taking 30 different medications, and rightfully be considered a geriatric patient. Assessing your functional capabilities both at home and in daily life, understanding your specific comorbidities, and evaluating the complexity of your medical profile are all essential aspects of our approach.

With every new patient, we take a comprehensive starting point. Our process typically initiates with a thorough review of your current medications and recent lab results. Subsequently, we proceed to order any additional testing necessary to create a tailored care plan that addresses your unique needs. Your health and well-being are our top priorities.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
