Lomita CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY LOMITA CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in geriatric patient care. Dr. Rafi’s extensive training includes a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, along with a special fellowship in advanced geriatrics, focusing on immune function enhancement and academic non-cosmetic anti-aging.

Geriatric patients at our institute are often over 65, but age alone does not define geriatric status. You might be 70, working full-time, and in excellent health, yet not considered geriatric. Conversely, you could be 60, dealing with multiple comorbidities and taking many medications, classifying you as a geriatric patient. We assess geriatric status by considering functional capabilities at home and outside, comorbidities, and the complexity of the medical profile.

With each new patient, we take a comprehensive approach, starting with a medication review and analysis of recent lab results. Additional testing is ordered as needed to tailor a personalized care plan for each patient. Our commitment is to provide high-quality, individualized care to enhance the well-being of our geriatric patients. If you or a loved one seeks specialized geriatric care, we’re here to help you on your journey to improved health and quality of life.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
