Norwalk CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY NORWALK CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute are experts in geriatric patient care. Dr. Rafi’s extensive training includes a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, as well as a specialized fellowship in advanced geriatrics. His focus revolves around immune function enhancement and academic non-cosmetic anti-aging.

While most of our geriatric patients are over 65, it’s important to note that being considered geriatric isn’t solely defined by age. You might be 70 years old, working full-time, and in excellent health without being considered geriatric. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities, taking numerous medications, can be classified as a geriatric patient. We assess your functionality both at home and outside, consider your comorbidities, and evaluate the complexity of your medical profile.

With each new patient, we take a comprehensive approach. This typically begins with a review of your current medications and recent lab results. We also order additional tests as necessary to ensure a holistic understanding of your unique medical needs, allowing us to develop a personalized care plan.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
