San Gabriel CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY SAN GABRIEL CA

Dr. Rafi and his dedicated team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in providing exceptional care to geriatric patients. Dr. Rafi’s extensive training includes a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, complemented by a special fellowship in advanced geriatrics. His primary focus revolves around immune function enhancement and academic non-cosmetic anti-aging.

While our geriatric patients are typically over the age of 65, it’s important to note that being geriatric is not solely defined by age. Whether you are 70 years old, actively working five days a week, and in excellent health or 60 years old with multiple comorbidities and taking 30 different medications, you may still be considered a geriatric patient. We assess your functional abilities both at home and outside, inquire about your comorbidities, and evaluate the complexity of your medical profile.

With each new geriatric patient, we embark on a comprehensive journey starting from scratch. This typically commences with a thorough review of their current medications and recent lab results. Subsequently, we may order additional tests as necessary to ensure a comprehensive understanding of your unique medical needs. Our approach is driven by a commitment to provide the highest level of care tailored to each individual’s specific requirements.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
