Sierra Madre CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY SIERRA MADRE CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute are dedicated to providing specialized care for geriatric patients. Dr. Rafi’s qualifications include a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, as well as a special fellowship in advanced geriatrics. His expertise is centered on enhancing immune function, academic non-cosmetic anti-aging, and related areas.

While our geriatric patients are typically aged over 65, it’s important to note that geriatric status is not solely determined by age. For instance, a 70-year-old individual who is actively working five days a week and maintains excellent health may not be categorized as geriatric. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities and a reliance on 30 medications would be considered a geriatric patient.

To ensure personalized care, we evaluate your functionality both at home and in various contexts, explore your medical history, including comorbidities, and understand the complexities of your medical profile.

With each new patient, we take a fresh and comprehensive approach. This typically begins with a medication review and an extensive examination of recent lab results. Additional testing is ordered as necessary to provide you with the best possible care.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
