Dr. Rafi and the team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in providing specialized care for geriatric patients. Dr. Rafi’s expertise is backed by a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, as well as a specialized advanced geriatrics fellowship. He focuses on enhancing immune function, academic non-cosmetic anti-aging, and related areas.
Although most of our geriatric patients are aged over 65, it’s important to note that geriatric status isn’t solely defined by age. For example, a 70-year-old who is actively working five days a week and in excellent health may not be categorized as geriatric. Conversely, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities, relying on 30 medications, would be considered a geriatric patient.
To provide personalized care, we evaluate your functionality both at home and outside, explore your medical history, including comorbidities, and understand the complexities of your medical profile.
With each new patient, we take a fresh approach. Typically, we initiate the process with a medication review and a comprehensive examination of recent lab results. Additional tests are ordered as necessary to ensure a personalized and comprehensive approach to your healthcare.
