Dr. Rafi and the team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in geriatric patient care. Dr. Rafi completed a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, followed by a special advanced geriatrics fellowship. His expertise lies in immune function enhancement, academic non-cosmetic anti-aging, and related areas.
While most of our geriatric patients are over 65, it’s essential to note that geriatric status isn’t solely determined by age. For example, a 70-year-old individual who works full-time, maintains excellent health, and leads an active life may not be considered geriatric. On the other hand, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities and reliance on 30 medications would be classified as a geriatric patient.
To provide personalized care, we assess your functionality at home and outside, delve into your medical history, including comorbidities, and understand the intricacies of your health profile.
With each new patient, we start fresh. Typically, we commence with a medication review and a thorough examination of recent lab results. Additional testing is ordered as needed, ensuring a personalized and comprehensive approach to your healthcare.
