Vernon CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY VERNON CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in geriatric patient care. Dr. Rafi completed a one-year geriatrics and gerontology fellowship at UCLA, followed by a special advanced geriatrics fellowship. His focus lies in enhancing immune function, academic non-cosmetic anti-aging, and more.

While most geriatric patients are over 65, it’s crucial to understand that geriatric status isn’t solely determined by age. For instance, a 70-year-old individual working full-time, maintaining excellent health, and leading an active life may not be considered geriatric. On the other hand, a 60-year-old dealing with multiple comorbidities and reliant on 30 medications is categorized as a geriatric patient.

To tailor our care to your unique needs, we assess your functionality at home and outside, delve into your medical history, including comorbidities, and understand the complexities of your health profile.

With each new patient, we start afresh. Our approach typically commences with a medication review and a thorough examination of recent lab results. Additional testing is ordered as necessary to ensure a personalized and comprehensive approach to your healthcare.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
