Walnut CA Allergy Testing, Immunologist & Sinus Doctor

GERIATRICS & GERONTOLOGY WALNUT CA

Dr. Rafi and his team at the Allergy, Asthma, and Sinus Institute specialize in geriatric patient care. Dr. Rafi’s expertise includes a one-year fellowship in geriatrics and gerontology at UCLA, along with a specialized advanced geriatrics fellowship. He focuses on enhancing immune function and academic non-cosmetic anti-aging.

While our geriatric patients are typically over 65, it’s crucial to understand that geriatric status isn’t solely defined by age. For instance, a 70-year-old working full-time, in excellent health, and leading an active life may not be considered geriatric. On the other hand, a 60-year-old with multiple comorbidities and 30 medications might be classified as a geriatric patient.

To tailor our care to your unique needs, we assess your functionality at home and in daily life, explore your medical history, including comorbidities, and understand your health profile.

With each new patient, we start fresh. Typically, we begin with a medication review and a review of recent lab results, ordering additional testing as necessary to ensure personalized and comprehensive healthcare.

What you can expect on your first visit:

Your first visit to Dr. Rafi is very comprehensive. We take your history to learn all aspects of your condition and perform an initial examination. Most likely, we will perform skin testing during this visit. It might be skin testing for classic allergies or patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis. We also test for exhaled nitric oxide (called FeNO) to determine the level of allergic inflammation in your lungs. We offer spirometry for assessment of lung function. We can perform nasal endoscopy with a flexible fiber optic endoscopy to assess for nasalpolyps, deviated septum, and candidiasis.
